Invaluable Advice for Interview Success
On an interview, do you know how to answer questions effectively and confidently?
Do Your Research.
Before the interview, find out as much as you can about the company. What are its products and services? What is your interviewer's position? Is the company long established or a new business? The more you know, the more you will increase your opportunities for successful employment.
Choose Your Words Carefully and Listen Closely.
Allow the interviewer to tell you about the company. Don't talk about what you want from the employer. Explain how you are a solution to their needs how you will contribute to specific company goals. Keep your answers to the point a few minutes at most. Always project a positive attitude. How you respond is as important as what you say.
Emphasize Skills.
Present your strongest skills and relate them to the job you are seeking. Discuss how you have successfully handled responsibilities that are similar to the prospective employers situation. Always be honest. No one is able, or expected, to do everything.
Follow-through.
At the end of the interview, express your appreciation for the interviewer's time and your interest in the position. When you get home, be sure to send a brief handwritten thank you note on quality stationary. Restate your enthusiasm and offer to answer any further questions or provide additional references.
Understanding the hiring process is vital to employment success. Knowing what to expect on an interview significantly increases your opportunity to be hired.
